The summoning Jutsu, known as “Ninpo Kuchiyose”, is a jutsu that allows the user to summon very powerful animals from different dimensions to fight for them. Wiping blood on the users hand (usually done by biting his or her thumb), along with the correct seal will summon the creature of the users choice. Here is a list of many of the creatures summoned in Naruto, along with a description of each one.
1. Baku

Baku is the personal summon of Danzo Shimura, a very large elephantine chimera. The beast is so large that it even makes Sasuke’s Susanoo look somewhat small. It is said to have the ability to devour dreams and nightmares and is able to suck in everything within a large area by inhaling through its mouth. It was used by Danzo to combat against Sasuke’s Susanoo, trying to break the defense of Sasuke’s Susanoo.
2. Demonic Statue of the Outer Path

This giant statue is summoned by Nagato to release many chakra rods from its stomach that pierce through Nagato’s back. After doing this, the statue spits a dragon-like creature out of its mouth that has the ability to remove the soul of any person it encounters. After the jutsu is completed, the statue disappears, but the chakra rods remain embedded inside of Nagato’s back. It appears to have a considerable damaging effect on Nagato when this summon is used.
3. Kamatari

This giant weasel is summoned by Temari’s Giant Folding Fan, riding along the wind from Temari as she swings her fan. The large beast is unseen to the naked eye as it moves, cutting and slashing through everything it touches. It is seen during the Sasuke Retrieval Arc during the battle with Tayuya and once more in the Ultimate Weapon Arc, the last filler arc in Naruto.
4. Elder Sage Toad

The Elder Sage Toad, seen first in Jiraiya’s “tails of a gusty ninja”, is the leader of the toads, all of which live on Mount Myoboku. Although the toad is very forgetful at times, he has a cunning ability to see the future. Most of the time, his prophesies have either one effect or another. For example, he might see somebody either saving the world, or completely destroying it.
5. Fukasaku and Shima

Fukasaku and Shima, also known as the “Two Great Sage Toads”, were first seen on top of Jiraiya’s shoulders when Jiraiya first went into Sage mode during his battle with Pain. They often refer to each other as “Ma” and “Pa”. Both of them live on Mount Myoboku and assist Jiraiya in battle, using high level sound-based Genjutsu techniques that can immobilize enemies. They also can spit oil and fire based attacks to create very powerful combination jutsu’s.
6. Gamabunta

Gamabunta is the enormous toad that acts as the boss of all toad summonings. He was the summoned toad of the fourth Hokage, that helped defeat the Kyuubi many years ago. He is also summoned by Jiraiya and the summoning jutsu was taught by Naruto during the first series of Naruto. Although Naruto is able to summon him sometimes, it is usually only when Naruto’s life feels at risk that he is able to successfully summon Gamabunta. Most of the time Naruto ends up summoning smaller toads, such as Gamabunta’s children.
7. Gamahiro

Gamahiro is a large toad that is first seen in the invasion of Konoha Arc, where Jiraiya used him to battle with Orochimaru’s large snakes. The incredible size and weight of the frog was able to crush the snakes once it landed on them. It was also seen in the land of rice fields arc, the invasion of Pain arc, and the Shinobi World War arc. In the last two arcs, he was used to assist Naruto along side of the other large toads.
8. Gamaken

Gamaken was first seen, summoned by Jiraiya, during Jiraiya’s fight with Pain. This large toad wields a large shield and a blunt object that acts as his weapon. He often times see’s himself as being clumsy and is not very confident in his abilities. During Naruto’s fight with Pain, Gamaken was summoned by Naruto as his own battle companion.
9. Gamakichi

Gamakichi, the orange-colored son of the toad boss king, Gamabunta, was first seen as an accidental summon when Naruto was trying to summon Gamabunta himself. As Gamakichi grew older and much larger, he became more useful to Naruto and helped him, along with his brother Gamatatsu, create attacks (inspired by Jiraiya) that combined various elements to cause lots of damage.
10. Gamatatsu

Gamatatsu is the younger brother of Gamakichi, making him also the son of the large toad boss, Gamabunta. Gamatatsu was also an accidental summon that was first seen during Naruto’s training with Jiraiya, when Naruto was training to summon Gamabunta himself. Gamatatsu has more of a yellow look and appears to be a lot fatter than Gamakichi. He and his brother have different elemental abilities as well.
11. Hanzou’s Salamander

Hanzou’s Salamander was briefly seen during the “Tails of a Gusty Ninja” episode special, which Hanzou (the one who gave Jiraiya, Orochimaru, and Tsunade their Sannin title) rode on top of. It was unclear if anybody else was able to summon the large salamander.
12. Katsuyu

Katsuyu is the large slug, often summoned by Tsunade. Known as the head of all slugs, Katsuyu seems to be a peaceful slug that is great at healing jutsu’s, but is also able to engage in combat (as seen in the battle between Orochimaru). The slug can also break into smaller versions of itself that could help heal wounder Shinobi or deliver information when needed.
13. Manda (Orochimaru’s Snake)

Manda was the large, purple snake controlled by Orochimaru. The snake would not obey anybody that he could defeat, and Kabuto worried that the snake might turn on Orochimaru if he knew Orochimaru couldn’t perform any jutsu’s. The snake died in the Itachi Pursuit Arc when it was used it to hide inside of it’s mouth, protecting him from Deidara’s explosion, which ended up killing the large snake.
14. Monkey King Enma

Enma was the large monkey king summon that was summoned by the third Hokage. He was seen in the Invasion of Konoha Arc, when the third Hokage summoned him to fight along side of him against Orochimaru to fight against the revived Hokage’s of the past, Hashirama and Tobirama. Although he remained very loyal to the third, he didn’t always approve of his actions, and suggested that the third had killed Orochimaru previously.
15. Nin-Dogs

The Nin-Dogs are the scouting and searching dogs summoned by Kakashi, which are used to track scents of Shinobi’s. The most popular of the dogs is Kakashi’s most often summoned dog, Pakkun. Along with their ability to pick up scents and track enemies, they are also more handy than using radio headsets, due to their ability to communicate with each other from very long distances.
16. Sasuke’s Hawk

Sasuke’s Hawk is a very large hawk that was summoned by Sasuke Uchiha during the battle between him and Danzo Shimura. The hawk is only briefly seen to help Sasuke from falling off the Samura Bridge after being attacked by Danzo’s Wind Release: Vacuum Sphere jutsu. It assists him once more by grabbing onto one of Danzo’s wind shuriken and throwing it back to Danzo.
Pain’s Summons via Animal Path
17. Giant Centipede

The Giant Centipede is a summoned monster from the Animal Path of Pain. The large, orange and dark grey Centipede was summoned for the sole purpose of wreaking havoc and destroying Konoha. Three of these Centipede’s were summoned. One of them was killed by Sakura with a single punch, and the second was killed by Shikamaru using one of his shadow jutsu’s.
18. Giant Crustacean

This vary large, crab-like crustacean is the summoning of the first Animal path of Pain. It was summoned with a number of body piercings and controlled by Pain during the fight between Pain and Jiraiya. It uses an attack called Water Release: Violent Bubble Wave to block Jiraiya’s oil from Konan. It was soon after destroyed by Jiraiya.
19. Giant Rhino

This very large Rhinoceros, one of the largest Summons seen in Naruto, is summoned by the Animal path of Pain. Just like many other summons, it has body piercings and has the Rinnegan eyes. Most of the attacks are simply charging towards the enemy, trying to attack it with its horn. It was destroyed later during the invasion of Konoha by Pain, where Naruto threw it into the air and Gamaken finished it off.
20. Giant Ox

As with most summons from the Animal path of Pain, this large ox has the Rinnegan eyes, along with a number of body piercings. Just like the large Rhino, most of the offensive attacks come from charging at the enemy. It was first seen charging after Jiraiya, forcing him to fall back into some sewers. It was injured when it was once more summoned to battle against Naruto and killed by Gamahiro.
21. Giant Panda

This very large Panda was summoned by the Animal path of Pain during the fight between Pain and Jiraiya. It was summoned to protect Pain from Jiraiya’s Sage Art: Hair Needle Barrage, where Jiraiya used his extendable hair to try and pierce through the skin of Pain. The rock-like skin of this large Panda made it very useful to defend against most attacks.
22. Giant Snake-Tailed Chameleon

This large chimera-like chameleon was summoned by the Animal path of pain, also containing the Rinnegan eyes and a number of body piercings. It was summoned during the battle between Jiraiya and Pain. This giant chameleon swallowed pain, allowing both of them to turn invisible, concealing Pain’s current location. The chameleon is summoned once more during the Invasion of Pain arc.
23. Giant Multi-Headed Dog

Just like all the other summons of Pain, this large beast has the Rinnegan eyes and body piercings. The special ability of this large dog is the ability to split apart into multiple dogs, and gaining an additional head every time it splits into another dog. Eventually, the beast will obtain multiple heads (as seen in the picture). The physical size of this beast ranges from the size of a small house to the size of a very large building.
24. Giant Drill-Beaked Bird

This extremely large bird, containing the Rinnegan eyes and body piercings, was seen briefly during Pain’s fight between Jiraiya and once more during Pain’s battle with Naruto, right after Naruto began to use his Rasenshuriken jutsu. The bird’s attacks are mainly diving downwards from the sky, trying to use its beak to penetrate enemies. It also has the ability to leg eggs that soon after explode like bombs.
